Edit: YOU CANNOT CONNECT TO THE ALPHA SERVER ANYMORE WITH THIS CLIENT!!! The client is just for downloading for you to construct your own client executable!!
Self-extracting installation archive for the Tethealla PSO server client.
Download: https://www.pioneer2.net/client/Tethealla_PSOBB_Client.exe (387MB)
Archive date: 3/28/2010
Steps to install:
1. Extract archive to a folder of your choosing.
2. Double click on install.reg to add the contents into your registry.
3. If using Windows Vista, create a shortcut on your desktop to vonlin.exe
Other Windows versions, create a shortcut on your desktop to online.exe
4. Double click the shortcut to launch the game.
This download:
- Update for 3/28/2010 client: ALL EXECUTABLES INCLUDED ARE UNCOMPRESSED. (Easier to edit... also doesn't give off false virus positives anymore.)
- Includes PSO Executable 1.25.10 for both XP and Vista.
- Classic online.exe and option.exe with English text. (Site links go to https://www.pioneer2.net/forum/ )
- Replaced only neccessary files to convert from Japanese to English.
- Removed the wandering tekker on all multi-mode versions of the city maps.
- Replaced the smutdata.prs file with an empty one for cursing.
- Includes Momoka, Irene, Guild Lady, and Nurse NPC fixes.
- Removes NiGHTS NPC.
- Fixes the help*.lst files to properly reference the online help images.
- Now comes bundled with vonlin.exe, voptio.exe, and vista.exe to make the getting on process easier for Windows Vista users.
* vonlin.exe will launch vista.exe as the game executable to run and voptio.exe as the option program to run.
* When voptio.exe quits, it launches vonlin.exe instead of online.exe
* vista.exe, like PsoBB.exe to PsoBB.pat, checks the contents of vista.exe against vista.pat when received from the patch server.
(This way, you can have both PsoBB.pat and vista.pat on your patch server to update specific client executables.)
* When vonlin.exe sees a vista.pat after START GAME is clicked, vista.pat is copied to vista.exe
Map data for Schthack client users (not a supported method of connecting to Tethealla servers): https://www.pioneer2.net/client/mapdata.zip
(Just FYI, even using a Schthack client with updated map files, you will have to use one of the Tethealla executables to connect...)
Edit: YOU CANNOT CONNECT TO THE ALPHA SERVER ANYMORE WITH THIS CLIENT!!! The client is just for downloading for you to construct your own client executable!!

Sorry, I didn't know that the limit of characters to type on the login screen was 8. (lol )
If anyone downloads the client and needs to type in a longer than 8 char username or password, you'll have to replace your PsoBB.exe with this one:
[removed]
The unpacked EXE was updated for server owners as well.
EDIT: I'll need someone else to tackle the Vista fix because:
1) It looks like both 1.24.15 executables I have are already Vista fixed. (Can't figure out what to possibly change in the new one because of this...)
and
2) I don't have Vista, so I can't test to see if the fix worked.

Updated client again, only change is that the archive is self-extracting and that it includes the fixed 1.25.10 executable with 16 character limit.
Check top for new link. |

Oh yeah, since I just got done archiving them...
Here's a ZIP file containing the old 1.24.15 executable (packed and unpacked) which is fully compatible with Vista (though it breaks the ability to input 2 byte characters, so East Asian language users are out of luck for typing with this executable...)
[removed]
Also I removed PsoBB.pat from the main alpha server's patcher so that Vista users could log on again.
I'll be receiving a new laptop, probably by next week, that has Vista on it.
Going to try to make the new 1.25.10 executable work with Vista and English text. (This will most likely break the ability to input 2 byte characters again, but we'll have two executables for 1.25.10... a non-broken XP one and a broken Vista one...)

Doesn't really matter.
Though the old archive had the old EXE which doesn't work anymore, plus didn't have the NiGHTS patch, nor did it have the Vista executables inside.
This one just makes things easier. |

The only real thing you have to do is change the encryption table/initialization in the EXE or change the table in the server source to the classic PSOBB table/initialization.
I haven't bothered with the newest client executable because I don't feel like disabling GameGuard and fixing the English keyboard typing issue for Vista again.
You really don't have to do any of that if GameGuard and the keyboard problem don't affect you, but they annoy me, so there ya go... |

hmm tried that didnt work, its probably something to do with this
const char *PSO_CLIENT_VER_STRING = "TethVer12510";
#define PSO_CLIENT_VER 0x41
cant be arsed messing with visual studio so i tried patching these so that the version strings match
006F4DB5 . 6A 0B PUSH 0B // 11 to PUSH 0A
006F4DB7 . 6A 19 PUSH 19 // 25
006F4DB9 . 6A 01 PUSH 1 // 1
006F4DBB . 68 10C29600 PUSH TETH_1_2.0096C210 ; UNICODE "TethVer%d%d%d"
006F4DC0 . 50 PUSH EAX
006F4DC1 . E8 B2071400 CALL TETH_1_2.00835578
006F4CB8 /$ 6A 0B PUSH 0B // 11 to PUSH 0A
006F4CBA |. 6A 19 PUSH 19 // 25
006F4CBC |. 6A 01 PUSH 1 // 1
006F4CBE |. 68 00C29600 PUSH TETH_1_2.0096C200 ; ASCII "TethVer%d%d%d"
006F4CC3 |. 68 B444A900 PUSH TETH_1_2.00A944B4
006F4CC8 |. E8 68161400 CALL TETH_1_2.00836335

006F4CD2 |. 83C4 14 ADD ESP, 14

...still didnt work

Oh yeah, I forgot I added a version check in the login server. You can just disable that.
But anyway, for sure, after changing both the table AND the initialization procedure (I didn't JUST change the encryption table, I changed part of the initialization procedure too...), PLUS disabling the version check or updating the value it's looking for, you'll be fine.
Of course, if you give up, you can send me an uncompressed new client executable. I'll get around to it whenever I do. (Hopefully, you've fixed GameGuard and the typing issue already, yes? )
I couldn't even find what was new in the 1.25.11 client. What makes it worth upgrading to? |

Ok, I gave up.
I uploaded PsoBB, online, option.exe below.
https://www.megaupload.com/?d=DEIYVD3Z
If you have a time, please look around it.
By the way, I checked official web site what's new in the 1.25.11.
I only found out the 1.25.11 is now compatible with Windows 7(32bit/64bit). so may be it's not big issue anyway. |
